Speaking to BuzzFeed News, Jadda said she was hoping to have it finished before Taylor's 1989 album release, but was overly ambitious.

"I finished it 13 days before her first Tokyo show for the 1989 tour and posted it on Tumblr just to show some fan art," she said."

"I had never seen knitting projects on there, so I thought I would be pretty unique."

Jadda had been posting about the sweater, and her plans for it, on her Tumblr for some time. She was initially hesitant to try to give the sweater to Taylor before picking her moment.

"I went to both nights in Denver, and the first night I saw Taylor's mom in the sound booth behind the B stage and I was actually wearing the sweater, but I didn't try to get her attention because I didn't want to bother her," said Jadda.

"Night two I was at the B stage again and I was hoping it would be the same situation where I would see Andrea (Swift's mother) and I could just hand off the sweater and a little letter I had written about my experience with Taylor’s music and how she has helped me over the years."

It all came to the fore when Jadda's boyfriend got Taylor's mother's attention.

"When 'Welcome to New York' started I noticed that Andrea was bringing in upgraded fans and I knew it was now or never because it was the last show I am attending this tour. So I called out to her but she didn’t hear me."

"I was attending the show with my boyfriend that night and he actually motioned for her to come over to us. She did and I said hi and told her that I had a sweater and a letter for Taylor and handed them to her. Then I asked if I could have a hug and if we could take a picture. She said yes. And we took the photo."
