“Please use sunscreen and get regular checkups!”
Australia's favourite son Hugh Jackman has taken to Instagram to warn his millions of followers about the pitfalls of not wearing sunscreen.
"An example of what happens when you don't wear sunscreen," he wrote. "Basal Cell. The mildest form of cancer but serious, nonetheless. PLEASE USE SUNSCREEN and get regular check-ups."
It's the fifth cancer he has had removed since he began getting checkups in 2013.
"Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked," he wrote 2 years ago. "Boy, was she right! I had a basil cell carcinoma. Please don't be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!"
The Cancer Council Australia recommends wearing sunscreen whenever you are outside, seeking shade, and wearing clothing and hats that cover the bare parts of your skin when outside as methods of preventing skin cancer.
